FPD: Florence man carjacked at gunpoint

FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Police in Florence are searching for suspects in a carjacking that happened Tuesday night, according to chief Alan Heibler with the Florence Police Department.

The suspect told police he met a female he didn't know, then drove her to an area by Liberty Street and Irby Street. At that point, three male suspects approached, pulled out a handgun and took his vehicle.

Heibler said officers saw the vehicle on Irby Road and started a chase but called it off because of high speed.
