Bond denied for Marion man following fatal shooting

MARION, SC (WMBF) - A Marion man has been denied bond at a hearing in Marion County on Wednesday.

Jerell Reaves, 24, was charged with murder following a shooting late Tuesday night, said Assistant Chief Dewayne Tennie.

Police arrested Reaves in Marion shortly after the incident. Reaves was taken to Marion County Detention Center.

According to Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson, John Floyd, of Marion, was shot in an automobile outside the Midway Minimart at around 10 p.m.

Floyd was taken to Carolina Hospital in the vehicle he was reportedly shot in. Richardson said Floyd died in the emergency room.

SLED is assisting the Marion Police Department in the investigation.
