HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Power went out for about 1,500 customers in Horry County Tuesday morning after a vehicle hit a pole on Holmestown Road, according to Horry Electric Cooperative.
Burgess Elementary School and Creative Beginnings Child Development Center were among those affected.
Shortly after 7 a.m., repair crews restored power to one of two circuits, reducing the number of people impacted by the outage down to 694, according to a Facebook post by the cooperative.
Burgess Elementary School was without power Tuesday morning. According to school representatives on Facebook: "The school is warm and power should be restored in the next hour. Parents may bring their children to school or choose to keep them home. Tardies and absences will not count against students today for this situation."
Repairs took a couple of hours, representatives stated, adding, "We appreciate the patience and understanding of our members as repairs are made so power can be restored."
