FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) -
held a Saturday registration event on January 3.
The four hour event was open to new, prospective or returning students. Students completed the admissions application, worked with financial aid counselors, spoke with advisors and registered for classes. "The demand for higher education is still here. This weekend registration event allows more access to those who find it difficult to navigate admission, financial aid and registration during the normal work week," said Dr. Shelley Fortin, Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Services.
In prior Saturday events, nearly fifty students registered for classes and more came in to ask questions or complete an application for admissions. The staff was impressed with the feedback, which led to more Saturday registration events.
According to a press release from FDTC, during the fall of 2014, the college had record enrollment with over 6,200 students registered for the first time in the college's fifty year history. "Students can get a good start to their programs and with the flexibility in scheduling, students can take day, online or evening classes that are convenient to arrange around work schedules or other responsibilities. It's a great way to invest in yourself for the New Year," said College Registrar, Genell Gause.
FDTC classes begin on January 12.
