Great Pee Dee River bridge repairs cause lane closures

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The South Carolina Department of Transportation plans to close one lane on northbound Interstate 95 to repair the Great Pee Dee River Bridge, near the Florence-Dillon county line.

The lane closure will begin on Wednesday, January 7 at 7 p.m., until approximately midnight. The lane closure will begin at northbound mile marker 176.

The closure will prepare for the demolition of a 20-foot section of deteriorated concrete. The closure will resume on Thursday, January 8, at 9 a.m.

The lane will reopen when demolition is completed, concrete is poured and then cured. The estimated time for completion of repairs is Friday, January 9 but the work schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions.

Motorists traveling along I-95 are urged to use caution in the work zone. Traffic congestion is expected.
