Suspect charged following trooper involved collision

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A South Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper was hit head on in his patrol car by a suspected drunk driver on Saturday.

According to Sergeant Jeff Benton of the Horry County Sheriff's Office, the trooper was leaving a safety checkpoint on George Bishop Parkway near Claypond Road when the accident happened. Daniel Adam Myers of Myrtle Beach is the suspect.

Myers and the trooper were treated and released at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

The Horry County Sheriff's Office charged Myers with driving under the influence and he is currently being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. He is out on a bond of $1,022.
