MULLINS, SC (WMBF) - Bond was denied for a Mullins man charged with murder following a shooting at a night club.
Henry Sherman, 28, appeared before a judge Friday afternoon. Bond will have to be set by a Circuit Court Judge, given the severity of the murder charge. The date for the Circuit Court Judge to appear has not been scheduled.
Sherman turned himself into the Mullins Police Department at around 7:45 a.m. Friday, according to Mullins Police Chief Michael Bethea.
Sherman called the department and told officers where he was, Bethea said. Officers picked Sherman up walking down the street.
Sherman has been charged with the said crime and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, Bethea said.
Police said a weapon has not been found and a motive has not been determined.
Sherman was taken to the Marion County Detention Center.
According to Marion County Coroner, Keith Broome was shot and killed with a single gunshot wound to the head. The body was sent to Charleston for an autopsy Friday morning.
Broome was shot and killed after the shooting at In the Living Room night club on West Laurel Street, officials said.
Police responded to the club at approximately 5:45 a.m., in reference to a shooting.
The captain said that there was 30 to 80 people in the club when the shooting happened.
The murder weapon is a .380 caliber pistol, according to the Mullins Police Captain.
