– The Beach Ball Classic came to a close on New Year's Eve with Bishop Gorman (NV) dominating the championship game from wire-to-wire over Franklin High out of Ohio. It's the second Beach Ball title for the Gaels. They previously won the title in 2009.
Bishop Gorman put three players in double figures, as Chase Jeter had 18 points and 12 rebounds, Ugo Amadi logged 17 and Stephen Zimmerman had 12.
The Beach Ball Classic's leading scorer for a single tournament, Franklin's Luke Kennard had 17 points, giving the Duke commit 147 over four games this week. It was his lowest point total of the four games this week.
Kennard was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, while Zimmerman was named Most Valuable Player. Mullins sophomore Jalek Felton was named to the all-tournament team.
