SC (WMBF) - The federal government is penalizing 13 South Carolina hospitals for making too many avoidable mistakes that harm patients.
According to a report issued by Kaiser Health, the hospitals will lose 1 percent of their Medicare reimbursements this fiscal year.
Close by, Conway Medical Center and Mcleod Medical Center in Dillon were penalized.
The 13 hospitals are among more than 700 hospitals nationwide being penalized.
The report scores hospitals on a number of things including complications based on blood clots, bed sores or falls.
