MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A man has been arrested following an officer-involved shooting.
Horry County and Myrtle Beach police were involved in an officer-involved shooting early Tuesday, according to Lt. Raul Denis with HCPD. No one was hurt. SLED agents have opened an investigation.
An Horry County officer and state constable were alerted from Myrtle Beach PD at around 3:30 a.m., regarding a carjacking and shooting, involving a purple Mercedes, Denis said.
The Horry County officer said the purple Mercedes was spotted at an Exxon in Myrtle Beach.
Officers said they tried to get close to the vehicle but it sped off, leading officers on a chase.
The suspect drove the vehicle to the end of a dead-end road and stopped, according to police.
Horry County officers "exited the vehicle. The suspect turned his vehicle around and attempted to run into our officers' patrol vehicle, then turned toward one of our officers in an attempt to run him over."
The officer and state constable "were able to draw their weapons and fire several rounds at the suspect."
Police said the suspect was able to speed away and abandon the car nearby.
Horry County Officers and Myrtle Beach Police Officers searched the area and caught the suspect without further incident.
Police are not releasing the name of the dead-end road where this happened and they cannot identify the suspect because the suspect is "refusing to identify himself."
