(WMBF) - The holiday hustle and bustle has slowed for many. Now that Christmas is over, it's never too early to begin planning for next year.
Use these tips to organize Christmas clutter and stay a step ahead in the New Year:
Make room for your new holiday gifts by ridding your shelves of older titles. For example, for every new Christmas DVD or book you add to the shelf, remove two older titles. Donate them to charity.
Have you gotten the most out of the tree skirt and/or older decorations? Discard or donate any items that are torn, worn or broken. Were there any pieces left in your storage boxes that you did not use this year? Ask yourself why you didn't use them this year. Clear out the old and let someone else enjoy them next year.
Take time to properly store your holiday lights. You'll be glad you did next year! Use a piece of cardboard to wrap the lights.
Use the cardboard from big box gifts to divide ornaments and extend their life. Slip a sheet of cardboard in between ornaments for protection.
Review your Christmas cards. Update and make appropriate address changes for next year. Take advantage of after Christmas sales. Pick up a few boxes while the prices are slashed.
