HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Horry County Police are investigating two armed robberies that occurred on Tuesday, December 23.
The first robbery took place around 9:45 p.m. on Highway 701 near Morgan Road in Loris. HCPD received a report that a victim had allegedly been robbed. The victim told officials he stopped to help what appeared to be a disabled red motor vehicle. The victim asked if help was needed and the suspect pulled what looked like a .357 handgun out on him. The suspect is identified as a black male, standing at about 5'10 or 5'11, with short hair and a "full face." The suspect was wearing a black flat bid hat and had on a dark colored shirt. The victim said individuals who were with the suspect called him "Kevin" during the robbery. The victim believes he was able to identify the suspect through Facebook. $220 in cash was taken.
This case is under investigation and the robber's identity cannot be released until charges are filed.
HCPD responded to another armed robbery that occurred at 10 p.m. on Tuesday at a Dollar General on 4120 Highway 905 in Conway.
The clerks were robbed by two black males, wearing tan pants and dark hoodies covering their faces. HCPD said that the robbers forced one clerk to open the safe and forced both clerks into the bathroom and duct-taped both victims' hands. The robbers destroyed the store's surveillance video equipment before leaving. The store suffered an estimated $4,000 loss.
