Florence deputies issue manhunt for armed robber

FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Florence County deputies have issued a manhunt after they say an armed robber took money from a store clerk in Olanta.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 35 years of age, standing 5 feet 8 inches, with a medium build and possibly a thin mustache, officials said. 

The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.

Deputies say the suspect was last seen wearing a black or possibly camouflage jacket, blue jeans and a white hat.

The incident happened at 412 North Jones Road at around 6 p.m. Friday. According to witnesses, the suspect demanded money from the store clerk and also tried to rob and assault a store customer holding a child. The suspect then left the scene on foot.

Anyone with knowledge of the incident or the identity or location or the suspect is asked to contact the Florence County Sheriff's Office at (843)665-2121, ext. 498. You do not have to reveal your identity to leave information.
