Meteorologist Marla Branson talks motherhood

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Meteorologist Marla Branson has being giving WMBF News viewers the weather since 2009. Through those years, many have watched her grow and develop into a household name here in the Grand Strand and Pee Dee.

Friday morning during WMBF News Today, she sat down with Anchor David Klugh to discuss motherhood and her return to the show.

Her most recent absence from the show is because she's been on maternity leave since giving birth to her son Owen. Who is now almost two months old.

Marla said Owen has kept her work schedule up with getting up early to eat and play and then sleeping later in the day.

When asked about motherhood she said its, "one of the most challenging and rewarding things I've ever done." She added, her priorities have completely changed since having her son.

"Maternity leave has been a job, I say, 'the boss has been more demanding and more strict' and my perspective on everything has changed."

Marla returns back to the show on Monday morning she said being a new mother will also change the way she thinks about delivering her forecasts to viewers, "even for severe weather, so parents know things like having a safety plan."

Marla met and married her husband Michael, who works as the Chief Photographer at WMBF News.

Tune in Monday to join Marla and the entire morning team for all the live, local, late breaking headlines.
