Conway PD encourages safe Halloween holiday

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - The Conway Police Department has issued reminders to encourage safety on Halloween. The following information was issued by the department:

The City of Conway recommends that Halloween be observed on Friday, October 31st, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Please make sure if you are out driving on Halloween night to minimize your distractions and drive with caution.

Drivers should be mindful and alert to trick-or-treaters walking along the side of the road and darting in and out of traffic.

Trick-or-treaters should walk facing oncoming traffic, pay attention to your surroundings, have a flashlight and wear reflective clothing.

We would like to remind all residents to still follow the SC Golf Cart laws (56-3-115) and golf carts should not be used by trick-or-treaters after dark.

In an effort to encourage safety on Halloween, the Conway Police Department will be passing out the following items:

1. Halloween bags with safety tips

2. Glow-in-the-dark wrist bands

These items will be passed out at the Conway Police Department on Halloween day, from 8 a.m. until the last item is distributed. The police department is located at 200 Laurel Street.
