Attempted murder suspect captured in Little River

LITTLE RIVER, SC (WMBF) - A Longs man has been charged with attempted murder and other crimes.

Edwin Earl Gause, 32, was arrested Saturday, October 18 after running from police, according to an Horry County police report.

He was charged with two counts of attempted murder, aggravated assault, vandalism, a narcotics violation and a weapon law violation, according to jail records.

Police say they responded to a call of shots fired with a gunman near McCorsley Avenue in Little River.

Gause was seen crouching and hiding behind a dumpster, the report states. Police say when they called Gause to come out, he ran.

Police found Gause shortly after behind a Wilco Hess gas station.

In addition, police found a gun and heroin that belonged to Gause, the police report states. Gause was taken to the J. Reuben Long Detention.
