Myrtle Beach named top 10 city for job seekers

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A human resources website has named Myrtle Beach among the top 10 cities for job seekers.

Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach and Conway ranked seventh on the list of cities with the highest job growth, according to the Talent Tribune. The Myrtle Beach area is the only city listed from the East Coast. Other top 10 cities include: Fargo, North Dakota; Muncie, Indiana; Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Midland, Texas and Lawrence, Kansas.

Between August 2013 and August 2014, the seaside destination added 5,500 jobs, for a total growth of 4.4 percent, according to the site.

"The Myrtle Beach area was responsible for 16.9 percent of South Carolina's overall job growth during the same period," the website states.

From August 2014 to September 2014, the state of South Carolina "had statistically significant over-the-month changes in employment," according to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics. There were 13,000 jobs gains in the Palmetto state.
