NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – A drunk North Carolina man was arrested Monday night for driving his vehicle on the beach and into the ocean, according to a report from the City of North Myrtle Beach public safety.
Joseph Allen Hepple, 54, of Lumberton, NC left a bar intoxicated in North Myrtle Beach around 7:30 p.m. Monday.
According to the report, Hepple drove his 1996 Ford Explorer on the beach three blocks south of Main Street, turned left toward the ocean and got his vehicle partially submerged in the water.
Hepple was given a breathalyzer test by authorities and blew a .19% blood alcohol content level.
Hepple was charged with driving under the influence and for driving on the beach, according to booking records.
