FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – A City of Florence police officer has been arrested and fired after allegedly pulling a gun on a victim while threatening her, and sending her a threatening text message.
Van Fredrick Jackson, 46, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with criminal domestic violence, high and aggravated, pointing and presenting a firearm, and unlawful use of a telephone.
Jackson is alleged to have been involved in a verbal altercation with a victim on Cobblestone Street in Florence on October 14, according to investigators. Jackson allegedly presented a firearm while making verbal threats to the victim, causing the victim to fear for her safety. In addition, investigators allege that Jackson sent a threatening text message to the victim.
City of Florence Police Chief Allen Heidler confirmed that Jackson has been with the Florence Police Department for about 10 years, and was terminated from employment, effective immediately.
Jackson is expected to appear before a Florence County Magistrate Thursday for a bond hearing.
