Myrtle Beach church hosts prom night for kids

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (PRESS RELEASE) - A church in Myrtle Beach is planning a special night for kids called the Joy Prom.

Beach Church issued the following press release:

Children with special needs might normally not be able to experience a prom. Beach Church seeks to change that. On Saturday, November 15th from 5-8:30 p.m., Beach Church will put on its 3rd annual Joy Prom; a prom for kids with special needs ages 5-18.

Like any other prom, children get to have a formal dinner, take photos, and dance the night away with a DJ and live music in a themed-out environment. This year's theme is a Red Carpet event in Hollywood with hopes that every child will leave feeling like they were the star of the show.

Joy Prom is a formal affair with girls wearing gowns and boys wearing tuxedos. Local businesses Katie's Project and Men's Wearhouse at the Coastal Grand Mall are each partnering with Joy Prom to help defray or eliminate the cost of their attire.

Beach Church is a non-denominational church that meets on Sundays at 9:30 and 11:15 at 557 George Bishop Pkwy in Myrtle Beach.
