Woman jumps off balcony after boyfriend assaults her

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - A woman jumped off her second story apartment balcony while running away from her boyfriend who was trying to kill her, according to a Horry County police report.

Horry County police responded to Wickham Drive early Friday morning in reference to an assault complaint.

The victim told police that Bruce Lamar Fees, 36, had come to her apartment and began banging on her door for an extended period of time until it opened.

The victim attempted to hide from the suspect in a closet inside the apartment, but when Fees found her, he began to physically assault her.

A one point, Fees took off the victim's pants, threw her on the bed, and told her that he was going to kill her, according to the police report.

While Fees went to get a knife, the victim was able to get on the balcony of the rear of the residence and jumped off from her second floor apartment.

Fees then jumped over the balcony after her, grabbed the victim by the hair and began dragging her across the grass.

Several individuals living in the apartment complex heard the victim screaming and had come outside of their apartment. It was at this point that the Fees released the victim and left the area on foot.

Officers observed the victim to have sustained several lacerations above her right eye, on her right cheek and possibly on her mouth and nose.

Fees was later taken to J. Reuben Long Detention Center and charged with kidnapping, burglary, and assault and battery, according to booking records.
