MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - One man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for his role in a March 2013 armed robbery and assault at a convenience store, according to a release from the 15th Judicial Circuit.
Bernardo Joseph Evans, 32, of Myrtle Beach, pleaded guilty Thursday to armed robbery and assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature.
Evans is facing 15 years in prison for the assault charge and 10 years in prison on the armed robbery, according to the release.
These charges are in connection to an incident that occurred in March 2013 at the Scotchman convenience store on Lake Arrowhead Road.
Evans walked in the store, picked up a drink, and went to the bathroom. Evans then walked back up to the counter and told the clerk there was something wrong with the plumbing. The clerk walked to the bathroom with him to check it out, and that's when he forced her in the restroom with a taser, demanding she perform sexual acts.
Evans turned himself in to authorities just hours after detectives released surveillance photos to the public.
Evans is required to serve at least 85 percent of his 15-year sentence before he's eligible for release.
