FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Florence City police responded to a call where two people were seeking help for gunshot wounds after a man shot them inside a vehicle, according to Major Carlos Raines with the Florence City Police Department.
The victims told police that they were going to the store with Orlando William Paul before he asked them to take him to a different location on Cannon Street.
When they arrived on Cannon Street, Paul got out of the car, pulled out a gun, and shot both victims, according to Major Raines.
The victims were able to get out of the car and run for help. Both were taken to a hospital for their injuries.
Paul then took the car and left the scene. The vehicle was then discovered on fire an hour later in Florence County.
Around 10:20 p.m. Saturday, police responded to an armed robbery call on East Bay Street. Paul was then discovered by police on the ground in the store where he had self-inflicted knife wounds, according to Major Raines.
Paul was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted murder, armed robbery, and possession of a pistol by a convicted felon, according to booking records.
