Big South getting tougher

CONWAY, S.C. (WMBF) -  Big South begins for Coastal Carolina this weekend as the Chants pay a visit to Presbyterian. The Blue Hose are undefeated against non-FBS squads this year, and that includes a win over Furman.

But that's just the beginning for CCU. The Big South features two ranked teams (CCU, number three; Charleston Southern, number 24) and two more receiving votes (Liberty and Presbyterian) - and there are only six total teams in the conference. The Chants are also the only team in all levels of college football to boast a 6-0 record at the moment.

Still, everything means more with conference play opening up, and with the improvement of others in the Big South, CCU doesn't expect there to be any easy games.

"The league has held its own against FBS opponents, they've certainly held their own without question against non-league opponents, across the board," said CCU head coach Joe Moglia. "We've got some teams that are playing very well across the board, some teams are playing pretty good, and the Big South is going to be a league to be reckoned with this year. As it was I think at the end of last season."

Coastal has won the last two Big South titles, thanks in part to tiebreakers. The Chants have lost one conference game each of those two seasons. Kickoff in Clinton, South Carolina is set for 2:00 on Saturday.
