RAYCOM MEDIA NAMES TED FORTENBERRY VICE PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER OF WLBT-TV AND MS NEWS NOW.

MONTGOMERY, AL - Ted Fortenberry has been promoted to Vice President and General Manager for WLBT-TV 3 and MSNewsNow, the Raycom Media owned NBC affiliate and digital news operation in Jackson, Mississippi effective January 2015. Fortenberry will replace longtime WLBT Vice President and General Manager Dan Modisett who is retiring at the end of the year.

“While we will sorely miss Dan Modisett at WLBT, we are very pleased to have a native Mississippian returning home to manage a great station and our digital media assets in Jackson. Ted has done a terrific job building a very strong news, sales, digital and marketing presence at WMBF in Myrtle Beach”, said Pat LaPlatney, Senior Vice President Raycom Media.

Fortenberry has been the Vice President and General Manager of WMBF, Raycom Media's NBC affiliate in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina since 2007. Prior to that he served as Vice President and General Manager of KAIT. He is chairman of the board of directors for the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, serves on the board of directors for the South Carolina Broadcasters Association, the Myrtle Beach Regional Economic Development Corporation and is a member of the Myrtle Beach Rotary Club.

Ted started his broadcasting career in 1982 in his hometown of Tylertown, Mississippi at WTYL radio. He worked for WDAM-TV, Hattiesburg, Mississippi and WLOX-TV, Biloxi, Mississippi. He also spent several years in Jackson, Mississippi as an account executive and national sales manager with Love Communications and served as president of the Jackson Mississippi Advertising Federation. Ted is a graduate of Southwest Mississippi Community College and the University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned a BS Degree in Radio, Television and Film.

He is married to Candace Collins Fortenberry, originally from Grenada, Mississippi. They are the parents of two children, a daughter, Anna, 15, and a son, Grice, 13.

    MARION COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Police say a suspect is in custody Tuesday after a brief manhunt through the Zion community in Marion County. Mullins Police Chief Michael Bethea says the suspect was wanted for operation of a stolen vehicle. Authorities responded to the call around 11 a.m. Tuesday morning according to Bethea.
