CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - An 8.5-acre tract of land near Myrtle Trace has been approved by Conway leaders to be annexed for development.

Tom Roe of Hospital Land Partners, LLC owns the land. Roe requested rezoning for the land, next to Conway Medical Center. Roe told council members, in September, he would like to see the area developed into a type of congregate housing facility, like that of a senior living community.

The request comes 15 years after Roe addressed city leaders about the same property. Back in 1999, wetland concerns stopped the request from moving forward, according to Conway Mayor Alys Lawson.

The mayor told WMBF News the council seems to think it would be a good fit for the property.
