Police investigating two shootings in Lumberton

LUMBERTON, NC (WMBF) - The Lumberton Police Department is investigating two shootings that occurred Saturday and Sunday evening.

Officers were dispatched to an armed home invasion in the Lumberton Mobile Home Park located on Roberts Avenue Saturday evening.

When officers arrived to the scene they discovered three victims of the home invasion.

Areil Mejia Y Mejia, 20, was deceased from what appeared to be a single gunshot wound, according to Captain Terry Parker with the Lumberton Police Department.

Three male suspects fled on foot from the scene, according to Captain Parker.

In another incident, officers were dispatched to shots fired on Lovette Road Sunday evening.

Officers found one man who had been struck and was unresponsive, according to Captain Terry Parker with the Lumberton Police Department.

Officers also found 125-A Lovette Road had been shot into but no one was reported injured.

The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment and for his security.
