"I've seen people coming from out of town, on vacation, they're excited, they're used to different stores names. And our locals are excited because it's within walking distance or driving distance to them," TJ Maxx employee Lorie Mendoza said. NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The newest shopping center will be home to over 21 stores, and it could all stem from the success of North Myrtle Beach's Park and Sports Complex.

Coastal North Town Center is far from complete, but that's not stopping shoppers.

Liz Trimble admits she's already been to the shopping center four times for some grand opening sales.

"It was a mad house, it was absolutely a mad house. I think everyone's just excited to have some shopping up here," Trimble said.

Stores open so far include: Hobby Lobby, TJ Maxx, Dick's Sporting Goods, Petsmart, and Versona Accessories.

Lorie Mendoza works at the new TJ Maxx.

"I've seen people coming from out of town, on vacation, they're excited, they're used to different stores names. And our locals are excited because it's within walking distance or driving distance to them," Mendoza said.

North Myrtle Beach Spokesperson Patrick Dowling says some of the stores, such as Publix, are a first for the area. People can either come here or go down towards Murrell's Inlet.

"We have a 50/50 chance of getting that business as well. It always pays to have something unique like Hobby Lobby, which people love," Dowling explained.

Betty Ridgeway and Marie Dilworth came from North Carolina for the day.

"In order to do the same thing we'd have to travel 35 miles on into Wilmington. We're about half the distance at the half way mark, so it's good to just be able to come down here," Ridgeway said.

Dowling ties a lot of the growth back to the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex.

The complex has exceeded their expectations by millions. His estimate so far: 15 plus million.

By the end of the year, Dowling projects 57,000 people to have come to the complex and more confidential building plans for the city are on the way.

"We're definitely being looked at for expansion and the good thing is, that we have the land to do it - not land-locked. We have west of the waterway to develop into, so that means a good future for the city," Dowling said.

Dowling says you can expect to see more growth around the Sports Complex.

A complete list of businesses coming the Coastal North Town Shopping Center so far include:

Publix, TJ Maxx, Ulta Beauty, Hobby Lobby, Dick's Sporting Goods, Ross Dress for Less, Rack Room Shoes, PetSmart, Versona Accessories, Dickey's Bar-B-Que, Which Wich, Super Cuts, Menchie's Yogurt, Lee Nails, Coastal North Vision Center, Chipotle, McAlister's Deli, Mattress Firm, Heartland Dental, Fashion Boutique, and Bojangles.

Dowling says more tenants will be announced.
