#ShakeItOffHartsville video premieres

HARTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) -  You've heard of flash mobs, right? One local community is using that kind of an idea to create a video to help promote their community in a fun way, calling it #ShakeItOffHartsville.

It's a reference to Taylor Swift's new song "Shake It Off", and people in the Hartsville community can be seen dancing spontaneously in the video that made it's official debut at Main Street Hartsville's Low Country Boil on Thursday evening.

It's different than a flash mob, the participants were asked randomly to participate on the streets of downtown. The City of Hartsville is hoping the video will go viral.

The city is involved because the project was originally envisioned to highlight its charming downtown shops and restaurants. The community, the city says, became involved as word spread about how much popularity the project was getting.

The video creators hope that people will show the video to friends to share what a fun place Hartsville is to live, and get them excited and involved in the community.

The whole video can be viewed on the Youtube page here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwg0icE8fcE&list=UUPoI35FgOPcjPhxjfII32gg.
