FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The Florence County Sheriff's Office conducted Operation Medicine Drop on Saturday at Lake City First Baptist Church.
During the event, FCSO narcotics officers collected more than 41 pounds of unused, unwanted or outdated prescription drugs.
The drugs are being disposed in an environmentally appropriate way. "This operation just took thousands of pills off the street, removed the threat of unintentional poisoning from our homes and helped protect our environment," Sheriff Kenney Boone said. Boone applauds everyone who took advantage of the opportunity.
Prescription drug abuse is as dangerous as illicit drug abuse. If anyone wants to continue to drop off harmful prescription drugs, use the Medicine Drop Box, everyday during business hours. The box is located in the lobby of the Florence County Law Enforcement Center on 6719 Friendfield Road in Effingham, SC.
