Dillon coroner releases ID in fatal I-95 crash

DILLON, SC (WMBF) – A fatal vehicle collision on I-95 in Dillon has closed all lanes of traffic Tuesday morning, according SCDOT and Highway Patrol officials.

The accident occurred at about 10:28 a.m. on I-95 at mile marker 190 in the northbound lanes, the South Carolina Highway Patrol online incident board states.

A 2003 Subaru Outback was traveling south and swerved to avoid a tire cap in the roadway. The driver lost control of the vehicle and went through the median and struck a tractor trailer.

One passenger in the Subaru was killed, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Christopher Rush, 26, of North Charleston died as a result of the crash.

There were three other passengers in the Subaru. Two were flown to McLeod Hospital in Dillon and one was flown to McLeod Hospital in Florence.

As of 11:12 a.m., all lanes on I-95 North at Exit 190 were closed, according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation.
