As the high school football season hits its halfway point, here are your cliffnotes to get you prepped for Week Five games, and don't forget to catch all the highlights on Extra Point on Friday night on WMBF News.
Matchups to look out for:
Loris at Georgetown (Game of the Week). Only a few unbeaten left in our area, and this pits two of them. The Bulldogs have strung together a 4-0 record, winning the last three without starting quarterback Jarvis Brown thanks to a stingy defense. The Lions have put together all around team effort wins in each of its four matchups as well.
Conway at Myrtle Beach. The Seahawks are rolling, now 4-0 on the season and Conway just picked up momentum with a win over Marlboro County last week. Regardless of those facts, it is still a constant battle when these two get together.
Dillon at Marlboro County. The Bulldogs surprisingly only have one win on the year, while the Wildcats are unbeaten and ranked number one in Class 2A. But worth noting: The Bulldogs have taken down Dillon each of the last two season.
Primetime Performer Week Four Nominees:
Brandon Sinclair, Myrtle Beach. He picked up 240 total yards and crossed the endzone twice in the Seahawks' win against Carolina Forest last week. He's helped the Seahawks tremendously and is a main reason why the team is 4-0 to date.
Eri'reon Hayes, Dillon. Hayes continues to draw the attention of several people on opposing defenses, but even when he touches the ball minimally, he makes big things happen. Hayes had three catches against Darlington, but stretched that into 121 yards, and three touchdowns.
Jah'Maine Martin, Conway. The Tigers just got their first victory of the season over Marlboro County, and Martin had 171 yards on the ground, while picking up two touchdowns as well. Don't forget to vote this week online.
Primetime Performer Honorees (presented by Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics):
Week Zero: Trayvon Thomas, Darlington (205 rush yards, 4 TD vs. Carolina Forest)
Week One: Avery McCall, Dillon (244 pass yards, 3 TD vs. Lake View)
Week Two: Drayton Arnold, Myrtle Beach (266 pass yards, 5 TD vs. West Florence)
Week Three: Kamron Johnson, Aynor (257 total yards, 3 TD vs. Latta)
