CONWAY – After a 48-3 win at Florida A&M to start the season 4-0, the Coastal Carolina football program moved up two spots to third in both The Sports Network and FCS Coaches polls.

This marks the first time Coastal has been ranked as high as #3 in both polls.

Coastal Carolina has started 4-0 for the second straight season – also the only two times it has happened in program history. The Chanticleers began last season 9-0 and climbed to #3 in FCS Coaches poll and the previous high of #5 in The Sports Network.

With last week's victory at Florida A&M, Coastal Carolina:

·         improved to 19-1 over its last 20 regular-season games versus FCS opponents, 22-3 over its last 25 overall games versus FCS opponents (including playoffs) and 22-4 over its last 26 total games (including a game versus FBS South Carolina).

·         won its 10th straight regular-season game versus a non-conference FCS opponent.

·         is one of 11 teams in the NCAA FCS that remains unbeaten.

·         joins Eastern Kentucky as the only schools that are 3-0 on the road to start 2014. (Also of note, Coastal and Eastern Kentucky open 2014 by playing five of their first seven games on the road.)

Other Coastal Carolina opponents making an appearance in this week's Sports Network poll include: #22 Liberty, #29 Furman, #35 Charleston Southern, #39 North Carolina A&T, #42 South Carolina State, #45 Presbyterian and #50 Gardner-Webb.

The Chanticleers will be at home this Saturday as they host Elon. Kickoff is set for 7 pm and the game will be televised on the American Sports Network. (ASN content airs primarily on Sinclair-owned or operated stations that are affiliated with The CW and MyNetworkTV. Please check your local listings for availability.) Coastal owns the Big South's best active home winning streak at 10 games (final two home games of 2012, all seven home games in 2013 and one game this season). In program history, Coastal is 48-16 (.750) when playing in Brooks Stadium.
