GEORGETOWN, SC (WMBF) - The Front Street fire in Georgetown that left several businesses destroyed and displaced many people from their apartments in September 2013 has received an incredible outpour of generosity and support.

Over $210,000 was raised to help the victims who lived in, worked in or owned the buildings.

The Georgetown Business Association will hold their Music in the Park event on Thursday at 6 p.m. to acknowledge the tragic nature of the fire, while celebrating the people of Georgetown.

Now, one year later, there are 18 reopened and new businesses in the historic district. Many of the businesses in the area will be acknowledge and celebrated at the ceremony at Francis Marion Park.

In addition to the Anniversary of the Fire ceremony, the After 5 Band will perform from 5:30-8:30 p.m. also at Francis Marion Park.
