17 children hurt in Horry County school bus incident

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Officials responded to a school bus incident Friday afternoon where 17 children were injured, according to Teal Britton, spokesperson for Horry County Schools.

The accident occurred at 3:47 p.m. by Green Sea High School in Green Sea on Highway 9.

Britton said the school bus driver had to slam on the brakes in order to avoid hitting a student who pulled out in front of the bus.

32 children were on the bus and 17 were hurt from hitting the back of the seat due to the instant breaking.

The children were seen by emergency personnel and six were taken to the Loris Medical Center.
