Florence community leaders organize rally to keep postal services

FLORENCE, SC (NEWS RELEASE) - Community leaders have organized a rally in an effort to keep the post office on West Evan Street operating.

The following information was issued by Pat Gibson-Hye Moore:

The U.S. Postal Service union employees and interested citizens are having a rally on Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 11 - 1 a.m. to "help save the mail" processing and distribution services for the Pee Dee and Horry County.

The main post office on W. Evans Street in Florence is scheduled to have all of the processing and distribution moved to Columbia in January which will mean that mail delivery will be delayed and jobs will be eliminated.

The rally will be held in front of the post office on West Evans and Cashua Streets.
