FLORENCE, SC (WMBF)- A golf tournament was held in the Pee Dee on Wednesday to raise money for the Make-A-Wish foundation.
The golf tournament was held at Traces Golf Club.
For more than 20 years, State Highway Patrol has had this golf tournament and donated proceeds to the foundation. This year, $16,000 was raised. More than 30 teams participated in the event.
"We just did a golf tournament for the troopers to play in. We had about $1500 left over and we wanted to pick some charity to get it to so we picked the make a wish foundation," Captain Jo Nell, with the SC State Highway Patrol recalled about how the event got its start.
"Twenty years is an amazing partnership for us. They have been here providing support for two decades that means helping lots of children, lots of families, offering hope strength and joy to children who are facing life saving issues," Bill Tiller with the Pee Dee region's Make-A-Wish foundation.
Last year, the foundation served more the 150 kids, that's the most they have ever helped.
