HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Do our students have too much homework or not enough?
Districts in some states are revising their school programs so that students cover all their curriculum during the school day and have no homework. The argument and partnering studies say that hours of homework exhaust kids and they won't retain what they learn at school.
Horry County schools don't have a policy, instead "guidelines" are provided to teachers.
Similar practices are used in Florence County schools.
WMBF News reporter Katrina Helmer spoke to parents on both sides of the fence and the principal of a private school whose method has been well received by the students.
