MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The fountains at the Market Common are flowing teal this week.

In recognition of ovarian cancer awareness month, bows, signs and the colored fountains can be seen until Sunday.

Veronica "Ronni" Walker, administrative assistant of Horry County Probate Court and an ovarian cancer survivor, is responsible for the splash of color.

With the help of a friend, Ronni posted the bows and signs throughout the Market Common.

"My goal is to bring awareness," she said.

According to the American Cancer Society:
Ovarian cancer ranks fifth in cancer deaths among women, accounting for more deaths than any other cancer of the female reproductive system. A woman's risk of getting ovarian cancer during her lifetime is about 1 in 73. Her lifetime chance of dying from ovarian cancer is about 1 in 100.
