FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) – A judge sentenced a Florence man to 35 years in prison for murdering his ex-girlfriend in February 2013.

Doni Terelle Anderson, 48, pled guilty Monday to murder in the death of his ex-girlfriend Kendra Johnson, according to Florence County Solicitor Ed Clements.

Johnson was found dead inside her home on Bellevue Drive by a coworker when she didn't show up for work one morning. That coworker could see her lying on the floor from the back door. She entered the house and called 911.

When police began to search for Anderson, they discovered he was in the process of surrendering himself to police in Myrtle Beach.

Police issued an arrest warrant for murder, and made a trip to the Grand Strand to transport Anderson to the Florence County Detention Center.
