Myrtle Beach woman almost gets away with Belk clothes worth $1139

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A woman is accused of stealing more than $1000 worth of merchandise from Belk at Coastal Grand.

Nina Cole Benton, 28, of Myrtle Beach is wanted in connection to a shoplifting complaint, according to a Myrtle Beach police report.

Benton stuffed $1139 worth of jeans, shirts and socks into a purse just before closing time Friday night, the report states.

When Benton was approached by a loss prevention officer, she dropped the purse and ran, the report states.

Since the store was closed and the shoplifting crime had not been confirmed, Benton was let out of Belk.

A Myrtle Beach police officer checked the purse, found the items with the tags still attached and connected her to the crime with video surveillance.
