Myrtle Beach, SC (WMBF) – The talk of expanding The Boardwalk that stretches from 15th Avenue North to 2nd Avenue South is filling the mouths of city leaders lately.
Right now the city is looking to add to the South end of The Boardwalk and extend it down to 3rd Avenue South.
The Redevelopment Corporation says this type of construction is going to take a lot of time, energy, and planning into deciding how and when The Boardwalk will be expanded on the south end.
The city wants to make sure the adding more feet to The Boardwalk aren't going to be a hindrance to local businesses.
Just last year, The Boardwalk was expanded from 14th Avenue North to 15th Avenue North and businesses in that vicinity are reporting higher revenue this year and are attributing the success to the expansion.
Though, before the project begins the city needs more permits from DHEC because of special zoning needs.
