CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – Coastal Carolina University's new sports complex will be officially named and dedicated on Friday, at a ceremony at 5 p.m.
According to CCU officials, the complex, which will serve as the venue for the university's sports including football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, softball, soccer, track and field, and women's lacrosse, will be named the TD Sports Complex.
CCU received a $5 million gift from TD Bank Group in September 2013.
The budget for renovations to just the softball and baseball field totaled $10.2 million, and began in the fall of 2012 with the razing of the area surrounding Vrooman Field and the Coastal Carolina Softball field.
"This facility will have some of the best components from the top collegiate and minor league baseball stadiums in addition to having our own unique features," said CCU head baseball coach Gary Gilmore about the future baseball/softball complex. "To have the indoor facility complete and know that we will be playing in one of the finest stadiums in the country by 2014 will truly make Coastal Carolina one of the premier destinations for a college student-athlete."
