WOODBRIDGE, VA. (WMBF) - The Myrtle Beach Pelicans' 2014 season came to a close on Wednesday night after falling to the Potomac Nationals in game four of the Mills Cup Championship Series by a 5-1 final. The Birds lose the series to the Nationals three games to one.
It is the fifth Carolina League Championship in Potomac's history. The Pelicans won game one of the series, but lost the next three. Myrtle Beach was making its first appearance in the Mills Cup Championship Series for the first time since 2008. It last won the Carolina League title in 2000.
Myrtle Beach finishes its season with a combined record of 82-56, winning the South Division of the Carolina League in both the first and second halves of the season.
