ZZ Top cancels SC State Fair performance due to injury

COLUMBIA, SC – The ZZ Top concert was canceled for the South Carolina State Fair  Wednesday night.

The following press release was issued by officials from the South Carolina State Fair on Thursday.

Ticket holders will receive full refund and free admission to the fair.

The South Carolina State Fair management received news of the ZZ Top concert cancellation last evening, Wed., Sept. 10, and wishes Dusty Hill all the best in his recuperation.

Etix will issue ZZ Top ticket holders, including VIP and Meet & Greet, a full refund to their credit card. In addition, persons who purchased the ZZ Top tickets may present their "print at home" ticket at the fair gates to be scanned on Wed., Oct. 15 for FREE admission into the fair.

ZZ TOP have just announced that scheduled tour dates will resume at the first of the year, stating, "Dusty's well being is paramount." The statement is in reference to Dusty Hill, the band's bass-guitarist, who, earlier, took a misstep on his tour bus and injured his hip, whose energies are now aimed at rehab in expectation of a complete recovery.

With the cancellation of all concerts in September and October, the band's management is now booking and re-scheduling an extensive run of dates starting early next year. "We're looking forward to getting out there and rockin' it with Dusty in a big way...100%," bandmates Billy F Gibbons and Frank Beard, commented. Dusty's usual upbeat wit was very much in evidence as he added that he'd like to see Slim Harpo's classic "Hip Shake" added to the band's repertoire.

The 2014 South Carolina State Fair runs from October 8 through October 19 at the fairgrounds on Rosewood Drive and George Rogers Blvd. in Columbia. Visit www.scstatefair.org for tickets and more information.
