Man charged with shoplifting after stealing beer, police say

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – One man was arrested after trying to steal beer from a local Walmart.

Myrtle Beach police responded to the Walmart off of Seaboard Street Wednesday in reference to a shoplifting incident.

A witness told police that Jonathon Danuel Graham, 22, was observed on video surveillance selecting a 24 pack of Budweiser worth $15.97 and a 12 pack of Corona worth $17.77.

Graham placed the beer in his cart and cut through the cashiers without paying. The offender was then asked for a receipt at the door by a Walmart employee before he attempted to run, according to the police report.

The witness was able to catch Graham and escorted him to the loss prevention office.

When police arrived, Graham said that he entered the store with the intent to steal beer. He also said that he only had a dollar and wanted the beer for himself and friends, according to the police report.

Graham was arrested and transported to Myrtle Beach Jail and charged with shoplifting in the first offense.
