MARION COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The Pee Dee Regional Transportation Authority is considering cutting the Marion-Myrtle Beach route, due to funding and budget issues.
State funding ended, which resulted in decreased monies for the transportation service, Board member Ed Robinson said.
To make up for the shortfall, PDRTA is looking to the counties and cities it serves.
Last year, PDRTA requested $183,000 to cover the routes in the city of Florence, but the city only gave $150,000. In turn, some routes had to be cut.
The other cities are straining with their own budget shortfalls, Robinson said.
Board members vote to determine if a route gets cut.
The next meeting for PDRTA is scheduled September 18.
