MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The Downtown Redevelopment Corporation made plans to continue events in the fall to keep people coming down here to the boardwalk as we enter the shoulder season.
Oceanfront merchants stretch the tourist season into the fall and winter months to cash in for the tourists here now.
As the summer season comes and goes, the tourists are still fluttering about. For many of them, this is their first time to Myrtle Beach.
The Oceanfront Merchants Association stood in front of city council to keep that ideal time ticking - sorting through permits to continue concerts and street performances on Saturdays in September. In addition, plans are underway for Oktoberfest.
The event will be held on October 11 from noon until 10 p.m.
The association admits the season took some time to start this year, but the summer season is ending strong.
In addition to event, a fall beach volleyball tournament is also scheduled in the downtown area of Myrtle Beach.
