School district requests $500K for traffic project at 3 Horry County schools

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - The Horry County School District requested half a million dollars to add car rider pick up lanes for three Horry County schools.

Traffic concerns, resulting in traffic overflowing into the roadways happen at Daisy Elementary, St. James High , and Seaside Elementary.

District Design Coordinator Mark Wolfe presented the project to the Horry County Transportation Committee at a meeting Tuesday.

On-site loop routes would increase the area for parents to pick up students.

The district requested $200,000 for Daisy Elementary and Seaside Elementary, and $100,000 for St. James High.

The overall project cost is an estimated $1.9 million, according to Wolfe.
