FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - A Florence man has been sentenced to 33 years in prison for child pornography.
Kevin Michael Stehlik, 36, went before a judge Monday in a Florence County courtroom. He was found guilty of producing and possessing child pornography.
The judge ordered Stehlik to 33 years imprisonment, to be followed by supervised release for life, and $25,000 restitution.
Evidence in the courtroom "established that Stehlik made numerous video recordings of himself while engaging in sexually explicit acts with a six–year-old child," according to a statement issued by U.S. Attorney Bill Nettles.
During a search of Stehlik's computer, agents also uncovered a significant amount of child pornography depicting sexually explicit images of prepubescent children, the release states.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the United States Attorney's Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.
